Good steel
I have stayed away from Benchmade for several years due to sloppy sheaths, broken sheathes, sheathes that are made too small to buckle, and the fact that Benchmade doesn't respond to emails when they make a dodgy sheath that breaks. They do make excellent knives though, so I figured I'd give them one last try. The sheath for this knife isn't perfect. It's tight enough that putting the blade back in the sheath causes the knife to cut into the leather a bit. That is all I could find wrong with it. This isn't going to dull the blade. The sheath is solid and the knife is superb. I've had a s30v blade for the last 12 years and know they hold a great edge and don't rust unless you really abuse it. One surprise is how thick the tang is on this knife. I was so impressed, I got a a smaller version. Same sheath issues, but still worth it. These knives will be used only for cleaning game.
