    Benchmade 940-1

Posted by Will Ishee on 16th Aug 2022

I have always been a fan of the 940, but this is my first. For about 8 years, I carried a Benchmade Bedlam. I decided to get a new EDC after getting my Bedlam back from rehab (Benchmade has a great program where they sharpen, oil and adjust the knife; my Bedlam had a great run and having it in pristine condition, aside from some marks it earned during its time, i felt like it was a great time for something new). Right out of the box, I noticed how light the 940-1 is, or I guess I should really say, how heavy the Bedlam is. It is a significant difference. I could always feel the Bedlam hanging on my side. The 940-1 almost disappears. The knife has a great look look and feel. I hope the carbon fiber isn't slippery when wet. The blade was not "hair-popping" sharp out of the box, but nothing a bit of stropping can't help. It fits perfectly in my hand. So I'm very happy!!! I will try to come back and update this in 6 months.

    940 vs 940-1

Posted by Unknown on 13th Jan 2015

If you are on the fence about purchasing the 940 or 940-1 I can tell you I prefer the 940-1. I have both knives. The texture of the 940 handle is almost like a fine sandpaper or chalkboard. It feels tacky to the touch and wears on your pants. The carbon fiber handle gives the 940-1 a better balance. If you prefer a handle with extra grip go with the 940.
