Bark River Knives: Gunny
22nd Apr 2014
I asked Mike Stewart of Bark River Knives about the Gunny, this is what he said.
The Bark River Gunny is the second most popular knife model.
It is a smaller version of the most popular model, the Bravo I. It was designed at the request of Force Recon for a more compact version of the Bravo. In actuality it turned into a crossover of that intended task into one of the most popular knives developed by Bark River. It works really well for bush crafting and for hunting. It is small enough and compact enough to use for a day trip. It has changed the way people think about the entire Bravo series. It is not just paramilitary carry. The Gunny has all of the features of the Bravo I.
It is thinner stock. It has the quick taper point so the point is not fragile. It retains the ergonomic shape which is great for a secure grip but not radical enough to cause hot spots or blisters with sustained use. It retains the ramp of the Bravo, but is available without the ramp also.
There is a Hunter variation of the Gunny which has a slight drop point. It has no ramp. It has jimping at the back of the blade so you have a choice with a ramp, without the ramp, a slight drop point (Hunter version).
