Bark River Knives: Kalahari

13th May 2014

I asked Mike Stewart of Bark River Knives about the Kalahari

The Kalahari is brand new model for Bark River Knives. It uses a handle Mike Stewart really likes. It is contoured with Bark River’s classic contoured handle- not too radical as to give blisters or hot spots but it is very secure in the hand.

The blade of the Kalahari is a semi- skinner blad which means it is a mix between a straight blade hunter and a skinner, but emphasizing more of the straight blade hunter. It has plenty of straight edge and plenty of belly. And the point is just barely under the top line of the spine. There is a false grind line to thin the point.

This is one of Mike’s favorite blade shapes and one of his favorite handles. Mike would like to ad the knife to the regular line of Bark River knives.

Made in about eighty-fiver different handle materials.
