Bark River Knives: Little Creek as an EDC
11th May 2014
Our regular Saturday-morning ritual includes a bit of woods-walking. Sometimes, unfortunately, it's just a brief stroll; other days we're lucky to get back by noon.
As much as we like our folders and slipjoints, in the woods we prefer to carry a small fixed-blade in our pocket. The knife we reach for most often is the Bark River Little Creek.
This is what we like to call a "little big knife." It's nimble enough to handle run-of-the-mill EDC tasks, and yet it's sturdy enough to take on the tough stuff. Over the years we've used a Little Creek for firemaking, fish-and-fowl chores and camp cookery, in addition to putting it to work around the house and shop.
The Little Creek is offered in Bark River's signature A-2 steel, as well as in CPM 3V super tool steel and CPM 154 stainless. And because it's a Barkie, the selection of handle materials is downright dizzying.
Most of all, we like the fact that the Little Creek is one of those wonderful "pocketable" fixed blades. It rides easily in its standard-issue bushcraft sheath, as well as in the "mini" version of our Modern Classic or one of our pocket sheaths.
A word of warning: If you've never carried a small fixed-blade knife in your pocket, the Bark River Little Creek will change your mind. Really, people, this is a hot setup -- we recommend giving it a go.
