KnivesShipFree Review
22nd Dec 2014
We get emails from customers all the time telling us about their experience with KnivesShipFree. This one recently came across my desk and it really struck a chord with me. This captures what I want KnivesShipFree to be.
I live in a community of 1.2 million people, there isn't a dedicated knife shop and most of the sporting goods stores have disappeared. A thirty minute drive brings me to a superstore where 3-4 big name brands are represented by a team of employees that don’t know anything about the knives that’s not printed on the label. I tried to find somewhere that I could talk about the knife, get to know it, what did the maker intend it to be used for? Shockingly it took an internet retailer to provide that. Your videos let me see a knife held, and used in someone’s hand. Your passion for knives is clear when you speak about them. I appreciate the time you took to get Mike Stewart’s thoughts on Bark River Knives, insight I could never get from a shop clerk. I needlessly searched the web for answers that weren't in the video only to find that a phone call to Tyler at KnivesShipFree answered all the questions I had and more. The effort your team at KnivesShipFree puts into everything they do is encouraging. I've never returned an item, never had an issue or mistake; I like to do business with people I believe in. The KnivesShipFree team is one I have faith in, the kind of people that would work with a customer to ensure they have the very best experience in any situation.
The Northwoods Hawthorne is a knife I didn't mean to buy. I fell in love with the classic slip joint when browsing KnivesShipFree for something else. It solves a problem I've had with other pocket knives; they never get along with the other things in my pocket. The leather slip that came with the knife is so much better than a box I would have tossed. This knife has become my EDC and more. The stout blade surprised me, I expected something thinner and not up to the tasks I have found this blade capable of. I expected to use it for small chores but it has become my go to pheasant cleaning knife, it is capable of slicing, but also able to pop apart the hip, wing, and leg joints quickly without fear of breaking. The stout spring and half stop give me the confidence to use the knife without worry. The shaving sharp edge it came with has also proven to be capable of cutting paracord, slicing paper and boxes, and creating feather sticks for fire starting. To anyone who will listen I have highly recommend the Northwoods line of knives as they are strong and capable, and as an added bonus they don’t have a billboard sized name printed on the blade.
Thanks for the outstanding service and products,
Mike M.
p.s. I’d love to see more on the Arno Bernard knives, that Gecko in warthog ivory is high on my wish list.
