    Excellent Value

Posted by EMH on 6th Mar 2023

I just got the knife so this is not an extended use review but rather a first impression take. First, this is an incredible value given the materials and the fact that this is made in the USA. If this was a Benchmade, Pro-Tech, Microtech (the other made in the USA brands I own) it would be easily twice the price, if not more. It comes razor sharp. The blade grind and finish is exceptional. Very nice and functional gimping and perfectly fits my hand. It is very lightweight. I would not say it disappears in the pocket like a Bugout but for the blade length and handle purchase it affords, it is one of the lightest, if not the lightest, knives I own. The action was a little rough the first few times I deployed it but whatever was going on resolved itself in short order. You do really have to put some pressure on the release button in order for the knife to deploy, I imagine this is a safety feature given that there is no manual safety that you might find on other side firing autos. If you give the button less than full force, the button will get "stuck" where a little more pressure will deploy the knife. If you have ever used a DA/SA pistol, this is like that except a little sloppier. A half press puts you from DA to SA. Caveat: The Micarta inlays on mine are much darker than the picture here. To me this picture looks almost white. I realize the description says Canvas, and that is what the inlays look like in person, a light tan/khaki, but at least to me the picture here looks much brighter/whiter than in person. Not a big deal, just an observation.

    Best Magnacut Value Currently Available

Posted by Curt Bromund on 13th Feb 2023

This is my sixth Magnacut knife purchased under $300 so far, and it is an significant value at $148. In addition to this knife, I have two Pro-Techs and three Hogues in Magnacut… and this knife is in-line with with my Pro-Techs from a functionality, quality and factory sharpness standpoint. It is thin and easily conceals in the pocket with the minimal pocket clip. The blackwash is very appealing… looks like a dark acid wash. Great design and materials!
