The Spyderco Kapara, designed in cooperation with Australian knifemaker Alistair Philips, is named after the Australian Redback spider. A practical every day carry knife, the Kapara’s main function comes from the need to tackle food prep. Its design is the direct result of Philips’s Redback folder, a knife he designed and made by hand as a practical EDC knife, made for peeling and cutting fruits and vegetables in any setting, including the office.

The Kapara's blade is CPM S30V steel, thin enough to make cutting and peeling easy. At 3.59” long, the blade is designed to cut most types of fruit in half easily. The Kapara has a compression lock located at the spine of the handle, designed so that food is not caught in the locking mechanism during use. The handle of this knife is fashioned from carbon fiber and has been enhanced with a finger groove to support precise cutting tasks. The Kapara has Spyderco's famous wire clip, which is a slim, solid pocket clip designed to fit with the lines of the knife handle. It allows the user to carry this knife with minimal exposure and keeps the weight down as well.
Released in 2018 at Spyderco's Amsterdam Meet, the Kapara is one of Spyderco's latest and most sought-after models. The slim, pocket-friendly design features a thin carbon fiber handle with a red G-10 backspacer and reversible tip-up wire pocket clip. This elegant folder has a 3.5" CPM S30V blade with a dependable Compression Lock mechanism making it a great addition to any EDC rotation.
Thanks to the reversible pocket clip and thumb hole opener, the Kapara is fully ambidextrous. This knife is sturdy and lightweight with a high-strength compression lock that safely secures the blade. Like all Spyderco knives, the Kapara has a lifetime warranty on materials and manufacturing defects.

Spyderco Kapara a thing of beauty
Love this knife a lot. I have a few $200 spydercos and a few Benchmades in the $200 zone and this Kapara is one of my favs. My custom scale 550HG Griptilian, my Spyderco Shaman and Gail Bradley 2 are also on my fave list. The kapara is one of my sharpest knifes out of the box along with my Enzo Burk S30V scandi grind.
