Spyderco's best kept secret
This knife was some sort of Sprint run that Spyderco did a couple years ago, yet it has hung around at retailers for much longer than most sprint runs do. I think it's because the knife looks a little too big and awkward. That's what I thought for the longest time until I got it in hand recently after finally pulling the trigger after years of this hanging around in my cart and on my wishlist. Now that I have it, I believe this is one of my all time favorite knives from Spyderco I have ever had. CPM CruWear is one of my favorite balances of steel, and the thin blade of the Stretch 2 XL is complimented by it. It has the slicing performance I love and I have confidence in the steels toughness to stand up to it (within reason). The liners, backspacer, and back spring are all hafted BEAUTIFULLY. It's one of the most superbly finished production pocket knives I have ever seen. If this hangs around for long enough I'll eventually buy them all up and hog it all for myself!
