Some cooks prefer a longer chef’s knife. The Shun Classic 10-inch Chef's Knife is a perfect choice from them.
The longer blade provides additional cutting leverage and is handy when it comes to cutting larger foods.
It is an all-purpose blade ideal for a wide variety of cutting tasks—slicing, dicing, and chopping just
about anything in the kitchen. The longer blade also enables you to cut more product with fewer strokes
—for example, cutting several carrots at once instead of just one. This is especially important for the productivity of commercial kitchens.
Even though this is a larger knife, Shun Classic’s thinner blades makes it lighter and less tiring to use than comparable European-style Chef's knives.

You need this knife.
I really enjoy cooking and have been cooking for a long time. Growing up we didn't have good kitchen knives - it just wasn't a priority. It wasn't until recently that I decided to upgrade my kitchen knives that I own. We own a set of Cutco but the steel in those knives are seriously lacking. I knew I wanted a Japanese style kitchen knife for the harder steel, edge holding, and the thinner edge. I watched all of Derrick's Kitchen Knives videos and called KSF to talk about my options. Tyler recommended the Shun Classic line and I ordered this knife. Since getting this knife I am blown away by what a good knife can do in the kitchen. This is a quality knife that comes out of the box razor sharp. I love it and can't think KSF enough for the service.
